Enterprise Risk Management Webinar Warns Firms of Dangers and Consequences of CybercrimeMay 20, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Nearly 300 people from businesses and agencies across the nation registered for the 75-minute webinar broadcast on April 25 and May 2 of 2013 by Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). According to a release, the webinar was designed to alert businesses to the potential risk of system weaknesses toward breaches, according to Silka Gonzalez, founder and president of the cyber security firm based in Miami, Florida. The webinar's "Hacking: Security Breaches Dissected" used case studies to demonstrate the ease with which hackers can access customer or client information, and outlined the kinds of financial harm that breaches can cause to businesses and organizations. These include negative public relations and loss of revenue from customers, and loss of data and intellectual property. Other serious consequences include potential litigation and significant fines levied by a variety of regulatory agencies that place the burden for compliance and security on cybercrime victims. "We test our clients' systems to uncover and remedy a wide range of cyber security weaknesses, and we advise them on the full range of security and compliance matters," Gonzalez said. ERM has scheduled a webinar on "Security in the Cloud." for later this month, and in July will present a webinar for law firms. Headquartered in Miami, Florida and a location in India, Enterprise Risk Management is a provider of IT Security, Risk Management, IT Audit, Computer Forensics, Regulatory Compliance and SAS 70 services to global businesses.
