Speaking during the launch celebrations, Multichoice Kenya General Manager, Danny Mucira, said that the company is committed to bringing quality programming and entertainment for Kenyans and Africa at large. "We have grown from exclusively satellite transmission to incorporating Digital Video Broadcast technology that is used for our GOtv and mobile platforms. Technological advancement is important for us as we strive to ensure that we offer our subscribers international broadcast standards. In this regard, we also offer high definition quality content that ensures those not to be missed moments are viewed with greater clarity," he added. As a brand in Kenya, Multichoice has invested in the production of local content through brands such as SuperSport and M-Net which have a local presence and are actively involved in local productions. Throughout the month of May, DStv and GOtv will focus on African-based programming like the AfricaMagic channels that bring popular African shows such as: Star Gist, Tinsel, 53 Extra, Jim Iyke: Unscripted, Mashariki Mix and Omotola: The Real Me. Musical talents from the continent are also being celebrated this month. Hip-Hop, R&B and Afro beats can be seen and heard on a selection of African inspired music shows on Channel O, Afro Music Pop, Trace Urban and MTV Base. Key shows to look out for are Volt, Original African Stories, O-Africa and Speakerboxx on Channel O. MTV Base will also screen an Africa Weekend Mix, Official African Chart and MTV Africa All Stars.
