Korea Republic of : SOUTH KOREAN electronics giant developing local software talent [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) To help develop the local software talent pool, the South Korean electronics giant Samsung is planning to spend 170 billion won (US$153 million).

The firm will be spending that sum over the course of five years to train software engineers. It added that it will also appoint more than 2,000 of such engineers every year through to 2017, which is a boost of nearly 30 percent from the average of the past few years.

An unnamed company official said: The plans will help grow the local software industry, and is in line with the government's push for a creative economy.

Earlier in 2013 Samsung had announced a new recruitment policy in that it would appoint liberal arts degree holders and train them as software engineers.

Earlier this week, the firm had unveiled its plans to spend a total of 1.5 trillion won (US$1.34 billion) over the next 10 years to set up a new foundation for South Korea to develop patents in the next-generation technologies.
