MakerBot® and Autodesk® at Maker Faire San Mateo May 18 and 19

Two long-time trailblazers in the maker-movement -- MakerBot and
Autodesk Inc. - will be at the Bay Area Maker Faire on May 18 and
19. MakerBot, a leader in desktop 3D printing, and Autodesk, a
leader in 3D design software, showcase a more tightly integrated
partnership that brings together 3D printed items you can design
using one of the Autodesk®
123D® family of apps and then print in 3D on a MakerBot®
Replicator® 2 Desktop 3D Printer.
Items being showcased in the Autodesk booth at Maker Faire will
include creative and fun 3D characters and creatures designed
using the Autodesk® 123D® Creature app and printed in 3D, as well
as "Fix It" items designed with other Autodesk 123D apps to help
repair broken household items and/or make life easier around the
home. All are printed in 3D on a MakerBot® Replicator® 2 Desktop
3D Printer.

WHAT:

MakerBot and Autodesk have partnered to market 3D design software
and 3D printing hardware consumers, makers, creators, and artists.
This collaboration includes the resale of MakerBot Replicator 2
Desktop 3D Printers in connection with Autodesk
123D membership offerings and facilitates connecting MakerBot
Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printers with the Autodesk 123D family of
apps. The goal is to make the process of realizing a user's 3D
design through 3D printing on MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D
Printers even easier than before. The MakerBot Replicator 2
Desktop 3D Printer marketed by Autodesk will include customized
Autodesk-themed artwork for the faceplate and build plate.
Autodesk and MakerBot are working together to help enable Autodesk
123D members to easily 3D print a model to their MakerBot
Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer from the 123D web gallery or by
using their own designs created using Autodesk 123D apps. The
Autodesk 123D family of apps-which includes the 123D®
Catch, 123D®
Creature, 123D®
Design, and 123D®
Make apps -help to capture, design and make their
ideas, and connect with other makers for support or inspiration.
According to MakerBot, the MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D
Printer is its easiest, fastest, and most affordable tool for
creating 3D prints, setting a new standard in resolution and
accuracy for creating high quality models.
