According to the Cisco Visual Networking Index (VNI) Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast for 2012 to 2017, the volume of mobile data traffic will increase 13 times during the next five years and will reach a total annual volume of 134 exabytes in 2017. This growth will be caused by, amongst other factors, the expected rapid increase in the number of mobile connected devices, of which there should be more than 10 billion by 2017.
