Shakacon Plans Global IT Security Conference in Hawaii [Health & Beauty Close - Up]

(Health & Beauty Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Shakacon crew is gearing up for its annual world class call- for-paper based conference on information technology security in Honolulu, Hawaii, June 25-28, and anticipates this to be the biggest Shakacon ever.

In a release, the company noted that the focus of this year's Shakacon V, marking five years, will be on IT security and risk management topics. Shakacon offers local, national and international participants a more laid-back learning environment designed to present a holistic approach to security, with the opportunity to network with peers, fellow enthusiasts and some of the top security minds in the industry.

"We started this conference to create an environment where global leaders in information security could share their research in a less commercialized atmosphere allowing our attendees to more closely interact with these experts when compared to other large security conferences," said Jason Martin, president of Secure DNA, the company hosting and managing the conference, and one of the conference's founders.

The audience will be a broad mix of professional, academic and enthusiast. Shakacon talks include both technical and nontechnical submissions on all aspects of security. The key criteria for all talks are practicality and timeliness. Shakacon wants to provide attendees with up-to-date information they can take away and immediately gain benefit from, along with new research and tools. The conference organizers expect several new offensive and defensive techniques and tactics to be discussed for the first time along with the release of several new security tools.

The first two days include training sessions from presenters from around the globe whose sessions cover areas of mobile and web application security to advanced security assessment methodologies. Seventeen speaker sessions are planned for the final two days covering best practices, case studies, and research projects that make up the information security landscape.

Shakacon V will feature many high-profile speakers from recognized global brands. They include: -Walmart Vice President of Global IT and eCommerce Audit Robert Goldberg, who leads the retail giant's global effort to identify and evaluate risks and controls within the company -Microsoft's Bing Privacy Manager Jason Shirk -Robert McPherson, a data scientist for a Fortune 100 financial services company -Rahul Kashyap, chief security architect and head of security research at Bromium, formerly a research leader at McAfee Labs Shakacon is an information security-centric conference with speakers and attendees from around the globe.
