Telekom Slovenije Chooses Eutelsat Satellite Broadband to Accelerate Access to Broadband Across Slovenia


May 16, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Eutelsat's high-performance KA-SAT satellite will allow Telekom Slovenije to provide fast Internet access to the 10 percent of Slovenian homes beyond reach of terrestrial broadband According to a release, Eutelsat Communications, a European satellite operator, announced an agreement with Telekom Slovenije, a Slovenia telecoms operator, to offer high-speed satellite broadband to the almost 90,000 homes that remain unserved by broadband networks.

The new consumer satellite broadband service provided by Eutelsat's high performance KA-SAT satellite will enable Telekom Slovenije to offer internet access to the most rural homes across the country. The service operates with a small (77cm) easy-to-install satellite dish and modem,the companies said.

Simon Furlan, Director of Marketing at Telekom Slovenije said: "High speed internet access has become an essential service for consumers, providing access to education, entertainment and public services. This agreement ensures that our customers, wherever they live in the country, will be able to access reliable, high speed broadband services today." Jean-Francois Fenech, General Manager of Eutelsat's Broadband Business Unit, added: " Eutelsat ' s satellite broadband solution was designed specifically to help Europe ' s telecom providers to provide a universal, high speed internet service to their customers, wherever their location. We are delighted that Telekom Slovenije has chosen Eutelsat ' service to help close the digital divide for Slovenia ' s remaining digitally deprived residents.
