Mobile headwinds shake Optus profitsMay 15, 2013 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Singtel Optus has reported a net profit decline of $A10m to $A257m year-on-year for the first quarter of calendar 2013. The annual profit is also down 7.5% to reach $A728m, with revenue falling 4.6% for the 12-month period and 5.4% for the March quarter. CEO Kevin Russell says weaker trading conditions in the mobile telephony segment are to blame. Rival telco Telstra gained 600,00-plus new subscribers in the quarter against Optus's 33,000.
