Now, interaction no longer barrier for them [DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India)](DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The advent of Facebook, 3G, YouTube and Skype has enabled differently-abled persons to communicate with friends on social media. The smart phones have gained popularity among close to 400 such differently-abled persons in the city affiliated to Anand Service Society, and NGO promoting use of modern means to help them to lead a normal life. "Thanks to modern innovations, now communication is no longer a barrier for these persons for conveying their views to each other", Gyanendra Purohit, who runs the society. "Apart from older methods like SMSes and e-mails, these special people frequently use modes like Facebook, Skype, 3G enabled handsets etc," said Purohit, adding that 3G is the most innovative yet convenient mode of communication as even an illiterate person could use the 3G handset for communicating with others through sign language on video chatting. He added that apart from speaking and hearing impaired people, visually impaired people also communicate with the help mobile phones which have special software which pronounces the name of the caller who calls up these people. "Going a step ahead, these persons now shoot videos through mobiles phones by communicating the message in sign language and upload it on YouTube, which is then communicated to their community members across the world," Purohit claimed. He also revealed that in order to avoid one-to-one conversation with each and every person, he uploads his lectures on YouTube which is viewed by these members later on. "I have also sent a proposal to department of school education for letting these youths interact with CM and minister of Social Justice Gopal Bhargav through video conferencing," he added. BSNL Indore spokesperson Shyam Yadav also told DNA that persons with speaking and hearing disabilities regularly visit the company office for inquiring about 3G services, adding that videophony (voice calling) launched last year could also help such people a great deal.
