Telekom Austria's Serbian unit operating loss narrows to EUR 3.2mn in Q1 2013 [IntelliNews - Weekly Reports](IntelliNews - Weekly Reports Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Serbian unit of Telekom Austria, Vip Mobile, saw its EBIT loss shrinks to EUR 3.2mn in Q1 from EUR 6.8mn a year earlier, despite a higher depreciation and amortisation charge, Telekom Austria said. The Serbian operator's revenue increased 14.5% y/y to EUR 42.6mn over the period, lifted by higher contract subscriber number and higher usage. The number of mobile subscribers rose 13.8% y/y to nearly 1.9mn supported by both the retail and corporate segments. Vip's mobile market share also went up to 20.5% at end-March from 16.1% a year earlier, underpinned by increasing mobile broadband services. Half of the market share rise (240bps) was reportedly due to competitor restatement of subscriber numbers. The average revenue per user (ARPU) also increased to EUR 7.1 in Q1 from EUR 6.9 a year earlier, due to growing contract customer base. Vip competes with two other mobile operators on the Serbian market - state-controlled Telekom Srbija's mobile arm m:ts and Norway's Telenor local unit of the same name. Serbia's mobile penetration rate shrank to 130.6% at end-March from 141.1% a year earlier, Telekom Austria said.
