LinguaSys Helps International Bank Deal with Compliance, Security and Fraud with New Product Release

BOCA RATON, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

LinguaSys, Inc., the international provider of human language technologies producing highly customized multilingual text analytics and natural language processing software, today announced the release of CCC Interpreter to improve accuracy and efficiency in the implementation of Chinese Commercial Codes (CCC). CCC's are used to identify people and businesses without using Chinese characters in banking, compliance, foreign currency, law enforcement, immigration and trade transactions.

LinguaSys' CCC Interpreter is currently deployed at one of the world's largest international banks to streamline screening of CCC names, guard against false positives and reduce transaction costs. Using LinguaSys' multilingual text analytics, CCC Interpreter transliterates and translates codes, improves accuracy of identification, increases transactions per minute and decreases processing costs.

Also known as Chinese Telegraph Codes (CTC (News - Alert)), CCC's were originally used to transmit Chinese text over telegraph wires, with numbers corresponding to Chinese characters. Many characters have the same or similar pronunciation making name matching difficult. Today, CCC's are used to identify a Chinese person or company in bank payments, FX, cross-border payments and trade finance descriptions. Regulators view ignoring CCC as a significant compliance risk.

The growing volume of internationl transactions involving the second largest economy in the world presents technological challenges for monitoring anti-money laundering (AML) activities. Without clear interpretation, CCC names could unintentionally be accepted despite being on regional watch lists, international sanctions lists or local blacklists. The potential for mistakenly transferring money to sanctioned countries further complicates compliance and security concerns. Many banks are waiting for industry wide standards to emerge and believe that regulations pertaining to CCC will become more stringent over the years.

CCC Interpreter, related entity extraction and advanced name list applications for multiple languages are now available to clients in banking, compliance, law enforcement, government, travel, media and other sectors.

"LinguaSys analysis is interlingua-based and grammar-aware, achieving exceptional levels of clarity and lucidity for enterprises needing to derive understanding from vast multilingual text databases and other critical applications," said Brian Garr, CEO of LinguaSys.

Generating multilingual transparency for social media and Big Data, LinguaSys' statistical and semantic natural language processing technologies break down stores of text to concepts and meanings that can be synthesized into other languages, analyzed for named entities and interpreted to create structured queries for Q&A systems. LinguaSys conducts sentiment analysis in original languages at the phrase level and can deploy natural language interfaces faster and more cost effectively than competitors. Built on human grammar rather than statistics, with a linguistic engine that understands synonyms, LinguaSys solutions simulate human understanding and communicate the human story inherent in multilingual data.
