Equinix and Partners to Lead Cloud Panel Discussion at ITW 2013

May 13, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Equinix, Inc., a global interconnection and data center company, announced the company will present at International Telecoms Week (ITW) 2013, being held May 13-15, in Chicago.

According to a release, Equinix's global general manager of Networks & Mobility, Jim Poole, will be participating in a cloud desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) panel presentation, titled "Moving End User Computing to the Cloud to Accelerate Cloud-Based Revenues," on Tuesday, May 14 at 9 a.m. CDT. Presented in partnership with NetApp, Desktone and Cisco, the session will focus on the emerging DaaS opportunity, which enables the delivery of virtual desktops from the public cloud via service providers.

IDC predicts that the hosted virtual desktop market will have an 85 percent compound annual growth rate over the next five years. Cloud workloads at multi-tenant data centers (MTDC) are growing at three times the rate of traditional data centers, while telecommunications services consumed by cloud companies grew 41 percent in the last two years. By following the migration to MTDCs and aligning with the right partners to build a differentiated solution, network service providers are in the perfect position to grow revenue by expanding their highest-margin services faster than previously possible.

Topics to be discussed in the ITW panel session include: -The service bundle, what it entails and why it's considered "revenues in a box" -Key benefits of DaaS, such as low latency, strong security, accelerated time to market and location flexibility -3rd party validation An abbreviated version of the panel presentation is available here.
