CargoNet Awards LandstarMay 10, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Landstar System, Inc., a provider of integrated supply chain solutions, announced that it has earned the "Best in Security" Award in the Intermediary Category, Tier 1 from CargoNet, the cargo theft database and information-sharing division of Verisk Crime Analytics. According to a release, Landstar was presented with the top award in the Intermediary Category for third party logistics providers with over $1 billion in gross annual revenue. The award is based on criteria that includes a willingness and ability to commit resources to security, standard operating procedures and best practices as well as the extent of utilization of, and support for, the CargoNet program, according to CargoNet. "Landstar's accomplishments in cargo security are particularly impressive, given that it hauled more than 1.5 million loads last year," said Anthony Canale, general manager, CargoNet. "With such volume, leading security practices are crucial, and Landstar being named 'Best in Security' in our inaugural awards is a testament to its commitment to cargo theft prevention and recovery."
