Police arrest two men in connection with theft from cars [Maryland Gazette (MD)]

(Maryland Gazette (MD) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Anne Arundel County police said a Brooklyn Park cab driver helped a man suspected of stealing electronics and other items from cars in Pasadena over the weekend.

A 68-year-old woman called police at 2:25 a.m. Saturday to report a man looking in cars and lurking in yards around the Riviera Beach community in Pasadena.

The woman told police she saw the man, later identified as Terrell Myers, 33, of Baltimore, get into a yellow cab that was driving up and down the street, according to charging documents.

Police discovered cab driver Nicholas Rinehults, 29, sitting in his cab at Bar Harbor Marina at 2:30 a.m. Inside the taxi, police found a backpack containing two black RCA mobile DVD players and a 9- inch LCD screen valued at approximately $400.

The DVD players had been stolen from a car on Bar Harbor Road, police said. Cash also was missing from the car.

Rinehults told police the backpack belonged to Myers, a customer he had just dropped off in the neighborhood, according to court records. Rinehults said he pulled into the marina to take a nap.

Police found Myers walking out from behind a home on Jenkins Road a short time later. Myers also told police the bag belonged to him, according to charging documents.

Police charged both Rinehults and Myers with rogue and vagabond, theft less than $1,000 and theft less than $100.

"Based on the investigation and the evidence at the scene, detectives have reason to believe both individuals were involved," police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said.

Additional items were recovered from the men, and officers have been attempting to identify the owners, police said.

Rinehults has worked for Prime Express, a taxi company that serves Anne Arundel County, for at least two years, according to a company spokesman.
