Advantech's IAG launches new 12-inch Fanless Touch Panel PC

May 08, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Advantech Co., Ltd., a provider of system integration, hardware, software, and customer-centric design services, has announced that its Industrial Automation Group, or IAG, has launched the PPC-3120, a new 12-inch Fanless Touch Panel PC that uses the new Intel Atom processor and has a light sensor to automatically dim the display.

Intel's new Atom D2550 processor is its least power consuming model yet, but also has four times the graphics performance and a 40% improvement on processing power compared to previous models. So it not only works better it saves energy as well, the company said.

The PPC-3120 comes with a light sensor that will automatically dim, or brighten, the screen, depending on the available light conditions. The sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted through either the BIOS or the dedicated software application and therefore not only helps to reduce power consumption but it also makes it easier on the eyes for operators.

One final power saving feature of the PPC-3120, is the built-in power saving integrated circuit, which complies with ErP Lot 6 and ensures that when in standby it doesn't consume any more than 1W, the company added.

The PPC-3120 with IP65 certified front panel and LED indicators features dual GbE LAN for redundancy, four serial ports, four USB ports and a GPIO to make it easier to connect to machine builder and factory automation products. With a range of DC power input support, the PPC-3120 will work stably between 12-30V DC and has been FCC class B certified whilst also being compliant with the EMC immunity, emission standards - EN55011, 61000-6-2, 61000-6-4 - for industrial environments, the company reported.
