Samsung Electronics gaining from heavy R&D investments


RIYADH, May 06, 2013 (Arab News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. stays tuned to consumer needs from around the globe to maintain its competitive edge in the market amid fierce competition from major information communication technology (ICT) firms, especially in smartphone devices, according to a top company management executive.

As part of the company's strategic initiative, he says Samsung Electronics invests heavily in research and development (R&D) to provide the consumers with the best technologies that can add value to their lives.

One of these was the recent launch of Galaxy S4 meant to be a "life companion," said Jae Cheon Park, general manager, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. in Saudi Arabia.


He was speaking to Arab News in an exclusive interview.

What, according to you, are some of the major achievements of Samsung Electronics Saudi Arabia in the field of telecommunications The market continues to demonstrate a diverse set of consumer needs, and we are committed to responding with a wide portfolio of products based on synergy of world-class hardware, software and services that provide meaningful innovation. At the same time, they provide returns to people with a unique value and broad choices based on various needs of global consumers. Our technological leadership and deep understanding of consumers' needs and lifestyles place us in good standing to continue to drive innovation in this market. We cover a large portion of the smartphones' market share, thus far.

Samsung electronics is committed to creating smart devices by providing user-friendly mobile Internet experience. Please mention some of these products which have been received well in the market.

Samsung provides quality innovative products that inspire the consumer to live a smarter and a richer life. For example, through the smart televisions we have introduced a totally new way of interacting with TVs. The Galaxy S Series has opened new horizons for a smarter living, while the Galaxy Note series touched the creative side of the consumers with its "S-pen" and its unrivaled specs. The highlight was the launch of Galaxy Note 8.0, with its perfect fusion of portability and everyday productivity, enabling one to reach new levels of efficient multi-tasking and enhance life on the go. Our Knox system provides for the safe choices for business and the HomeSync system works like a private 'cloud' that synchronizes your files on all the devices it is connected to it.

Do you have a strategic plan to face the competition among major firms, especially in smart phones We always keep an eye out for the consumer needs from around the globe.
