Germany : DEUTSCHE Telekom to provide payment scheme to OTT suppliers [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Deutsche Telekom, Germany's national telco is planning to provide operators of over-the-top (OTT) services the chance to be excluded from the integrated high speed data volumes of its ADSL customers if they pay for this.

On Deutsche Telekom's broadband networks, move would observe the end of net neutrality the equal treatment of all offerings from the open Internet.

"We are open for talks with these providers to integrate their services into our IPTV platform Entertain or to find new cooperation models," Telekom's German head Niek Jan van Damme told Die Welt. "We would then be able to invest part of these revenues into network upgrades. It would then also be thinkable that the offerings would not use up customers' data volumes. In the mobile network business, we already practise this with music streaming service Spotify. Something like this would be possible both with large market players like YouTube and with newcomers." Talks regarding this possibility are already underway, said van Damme. "We want to offer these possibilities without discrimination, which means that we will talk to anyone about these models who approaches us." (c) 2013 Euclid Infotech Pvt. Ltd.
