Silver Spring Networks enters into agreement with Masers Energy

May 02, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Silver Spring Networks, Inc., a networking platform and solutions provider for smart energy networks, has entered into an agreement with Masers Energy Malaysia, a fully-owned subsidiary of Masers Energy Inc. to help bring smart infrastructure benefits to Malaysia.

Under the agreement, Silver Spring Networks will coordinate smart infrastructure technology, planning and services for Masers' Smart Grid City Melaka and Special Economic Zone Melaka projects. Anticipated to begin later in 2013, the initial stage of an expected multi-phase project will include Silver Spring's IPv6 networking platform deployed as a canopy network for metering, distribution automation, and smart grid consumer empowerment initiatives.

The Masers Energy Smart Grid City and Green Special Economic Zone are public-private plan to transform the Melaka region from an agricultural and small-industry zone into the first Smart Grid City in Asia. Designed to bring the economic and societal benefits of smart infrastructure to Malaysia, the plan leverages Smart City technologies to create a 'Green Corridor' in Melaka, Silver Spring Networks said.

"We are excited to partner with Silver Spring Networks as we build a modern, 21st century infrastructure to help accelerate economic growth and deliver innovative Smart City services for Malaysia's citizens," said Dato' Seri Suhaimi Abd Rahman, CEO, Masers Energy. "Silver Spring represents the global gold standard in smart infrastructure and their participation reflects the high standards and expectations we have for this project." "From Kuala Lumpur to Melaka to Borneo, Malaysia is a global science and technology leader and one of the world's most rapidly growing economies," said Eric Dresselhuys, executive vice president of global development, Silver Spring Networks. "We share in the vision of the Malaysian government and Masers Energy, and we are proud to be a strategic partner in this innovative public-private effort to accelerate economic growth and create expanded opportunity for the citizens of Malaysia." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
