SRA to Provide Support for the U.S. Army's Passive Radio Frequency Identification Initiative

May 02, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- SRA International, Inc., a provider of IT solutions and professional services to government organizations, announced that it will support the U.S. Army's Product Director, Automated Movement and Identification Solutions (PD AMIS), Passive Radio Frequency Identification II (pRFID II) project.

According to a release, the single award, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract is valued at $30M over five years if all options are exercised.

The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) requires most suppliers of parts and commodities to mark their shipments with radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags to enable tracking. The pRFID II contract supports a common, integrated structure for logistic identification, tracking, locating, and monitoring of commodities and assets for the DOD, the U.S. Coast Guard, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), coalition partners, foreign military sales and other federal agencies.

"SRA has a long and solid history supporting the U.S. Department of Defense," said Defense Logistics VP Jim Curtis. "We are a leading partner working to deliver cost-saving solutions for the DOD supply chain and we look forward to supporting the Army and other users of this efficiency enhancing technology." SRA and its teaming partners will provide commercially available pRFID technology, including communications, hardware and software, technical engineering services, documentation, training, warranty and maintenance services. In addition, SRA will provide military supply chain experts to deliver best-value solutions.

SRA International continues to expand its long-standing asset management and visibility solutions work, and currently supports other key government customers in these areas, including the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and the U.S. Air Force.

SRA International is dedicated to solving complex mission and efficiency challenges for the U.S. government.
