[April 27, 2013] Governometrics to govern govt programmes & schemes [DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India)] Tweet (DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) For the cost effective execution of various government programmes and schemes, two faculty members of the Rajasthan University are developing a software application titled 'Governometrics'. It is being done for ensuring to achieve excellence in the governmental performance as often government programmes and schemes are not able to achieve their maximum results for want of dynamics of policy syntax Prof Sangeeta Sharma and Dr Pankaj Nagar, respectively of the Public Administration and Statistic departments of the RU, have developed this concept to understand the governmental dynamics for policy syntax. In the second phase, the application will be developed, comprising of statistical and quantitative methods which will analyse and understand various nuances of policy making for effective implementation and its optimum utilization. The inputs based on specific needs provide right fulcrum to make rational choices amongst the available alternatives and it also provides perspective plan to resolve simple and complex policy conundrums by studying the data pattern on every single minute dimension of the policy. "The prime focus is to help the policy makers to organize data in the condensed and understandable form by applying statistical tools to draw inferences regarding specific decisions by interpreting data patterns. This will help to make accurate policies, so that its maximum output is reported with minimum utilization of resources," said, Prof Sangita Sharma. The faculties have already initiated the process to get this concept patented with the government of India and now the work is on to develop this application, so that it can further be used for welfare. Citing an example Prof Sharma said, "If we want to set up a hospital in a particular area, we can gives its dimensions, area size and other specifications in the application and in return, it will state on how to plan for that and what the actual process have to followed in order to achieve maximum results."
