Sistema Shyam gets new CEO [DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India)](DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) New Delhi: Russian conglomerate Sistema has shuffled its top deck in India as it gears up for a fresh innings in the country, including a larger 4G play. It has announced the appointment of Dmitry Shukov as the new chief executive officer of Sistema Shyam Teleservices (SSTL), its joint venture in India, which runs telecom services under MTS brand. Shukov has earlier headed MTS's Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan operations. Vsevolod Rozanov, the current president and CEO of SSTL, is to be elevated to a senior position within Sistema at Moscow. The transition is expected to get formalised latest by June 1, 2013, after completion of all the relevant corporate procedures, the company said in a statement. Rosanov has completed almost five years at SSTL and has seen lots of ups and downs in the Indian telecom industry. The company had lost 21 of its 22 licences following Supreme Court orders in February 2011 and has recently won licences in eight circles in 800 MHz spectrum auction. Earlier this month, Sistema said it will invest Rs1,093 crore on 4G rollout. The firm wants to deploy a version of 4G technology on single 1.4 MHz carrier to maximise its data potential. Shukov, who has 20 year experience, is known for his hands-on business experience, having worked as head of sales in Tele2, Russia's leading mobile operator. "Dmitry has a wealth of operational experience, business acumen, and inspirational leadership needed to spearhead SSTL's next phase of growth. We welcome his appointment and look forward to his contribution in taking the company to OIBDA-positive stage," Mikhail Shamolin, president of Sistema JSFC said. With many of the uncertainties relating to operations resolved, the key focus area for Shukov will be to take the company to the next level, experts said.
