[April 24, 2013] Brynn Boren, Katat Szekely earn All-SEC in women's tennis Tweet Apr 24, 2013 (The Knoxville News-Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Brynn Boren and Kata Szekely of Tennessee were named first-team All-SEC on Wednesday. The two combined for 36 doubles victories and a top-5 ITA ranking throughout the spring. Boren, a junior, made the first team a year ago and the second team as a freshman. Szekely, a senior, was a second team member the past two seasons. Lauren Embry of Florida was named Player of the Year. The Lady Vols are awaiting the NCAA tournament bracket on Tuesday. Track: Tennessee's men have cracked the top 20 track and field rankings for the first time in three years. The Vols climbed 15 spots to No. 20 in the latest poll from the national coaches' association. "This is just the beginning phase for the men to be ranked in the top 20,'' said J.J. Clark, UT's director of track and field. "We're striving to get even higher. "The good thing is all the guys that are in the top 10 or top 20 are returning next year.'' Sophomore Matt Hoty ranks No. 3 nationally in the shot put and freshman Jake Blankenship fourth in the pole vault. Honor Roll: A total of 25 Tennessee athletes were named to the 2012-13 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll.
