EnerNex Teams with EnergySec to Host NERC CIP Compliance Bootcamp

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --(Business Wire)--

EnerNex and EnergySec have partnered to offer a NERC CIP Compliance Bootcamp on June 19-20 in Knoxville, Tenn. geared toward electric utility IT, security, compliance professionals and operations staff.

The two-day bootcamp kicks off with an interactive course providing a NERC (News - Alert) CIP compliance overview including cyber security solutions, audit preparation and methods to help secure the power grid. The second day is focused on CIP-005 and CIP-007, the two most technically oriented of the CIP standards. The requirements of these standards will be covered in depth with detailed technical discussions of tools, techniques, and approaches to both improve security and maintain compliance. Slade Griffin, EnerNex Director of Energy Systems Security, stated: "This bootcamp will provide utilities and vendors with a unique perspective of CIP compliance. Having instructors who have worked at utilities as boots on the ground and experience asWECC auditors gives a level of insight and applicability taught from people who have been there. The right instructor makes all the difference when choosing training."

EnerNex will be hosting the event in the firm's state-of-the-art Smart Grid Lab interoperability evaluation facility at their headquarters in Tennessee. The bootcamp is set to include Smart Grid Lab demonstrations covering topics from both vulnerabilities and a security architecture and technologies application point of view.
