The Pepsi Center Arena, Denver Colorado Installs Zinwave DAS Technology to Boost 4G Capabilities


Apr 15, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Zinwave announced that the Pepsi Center Arena, a multipurpose sports venue and concert hall situated in Denver, Colorado, is deploying Zinwave's distributed antenna system (DAS) to enhance cellular coverage for 4G services using MIMO (multiple-input and Multiple-output) technology.

According to a release, this is in response to a demand for immediate access to high speed data services during major tournaments and events.

The DAS system has been designed and commissioned in conjunction with TriPower, a US systems integrator and wireless technology development company.


The overall site occupies a total area of more than 45 square acres. The five-storey building comprises: a basketball court, soccer pitch, hockey rink, three restaurants, TV recording studios, retail outlets as well as conference facilities. It can seat more than 19 000 fans during sporting events and 21 000 fans during concerts.

Zinwave noted that its DAS technology was chosen as the preferred solution further to the issue of a public tender for in-building wireless coverage at the Arena. A fundamental requirement was the ability to support all existing commercial frequencies (CDMA, 2G, 3G) as well as LTE frequencies (700MHz, 850MHz, 1,900 MHz, 2,100 MHz), delivered over MIMO antenna systems.

Zinwave's DAS was selected because of its flexibility, open architecture, and its ability to support all the required frequencies on a single hardware layer.
