Third-party payment becomes Chinese netizens second online payment choice


SHANGHAI, Apr 02, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Statistics show that 61.3 pe rcent Chinese netizens use the third-party payment service online, jus t second to those who pay directly via online banking services, accord ing to the market consultancy the iResearch Consulting Group.

According to iResearch, direct online banking payment con tinued to maintain an important position in Chinese netizens' Internet activities last year, while 78.1 percent of netizens used the service and 41.3 percent of them used it frequently; the third-party payment service was the second most popular online payment method, while 61.3 percent netizens used it and 29.7 percent of them used it frequently.

While using the third-party payment service, most users m ade their payment with the remaining amount in their third-party accou nts last year, while shortcut payment was the second choice. But most senior online payment service users chose the shortcut payment to make their payment. Shortcut payment allows Internet users make the paymen t with their bankcards directly with third-party payment account passw ords.


Over 80 percent netizens who used the third-party shortcu t payment service in 2012 would like to use the payment method again i n 2013. This highlights that the third-party shortcut payment is highl y regarded by the online payment service users and the service provide rs might consider providing more preferential activities, raising the payment limits, and enhancing the payment security so as to attract mo re users, according to iResearch.
