[March 27, 2013] Hughes/Inmarsat BGAN M2M terminal granted Hazardous Locations Accreditation Tweet Mar 27, 2013 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Broadband satellite solutions and services provider Hughes Network Systems LLC, a subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ:SATS), announced on Wednesday the first BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) M2M (machine-to-machine) terminal to receive Hazardous Locations Accreditation. The Hughes 9502 is a global-use terminal designed and manufactured by Hughes for operation over the BGAN service operated by Inmarsat plc (LSE:ISAT), a provider of global mobile satellite communications services. Accreditation was awarded after the terminal successfully completed testing by Met Laboratories Inc (MetLabs), an accredited laboratory. It has been certified for operation in hazardous locations where explosive gaseous atmospheres may potentially be present. Specifically, the certification covers operation in environments classified as Class 1, Division 2, Groups A-D, and ATEX Zone 2, Group II, Category 3. In a separated announcement, Inmarsat partner Zedi Inc (TSX-V:ZED), an oil and gas technology and services company in the field of production operations, has said that it is placing orders for the newly accredited Hughes BGAN M2M terminal.
