PROVIDENCE, R.I. --(Business Wire)--

Utilidata, Inc., the advanced automated energy conservation and management technology solutions company, announced today that Sridhar (Sri) Ramachandran has joined the company as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Based at Utilidata's Providence, R.I., headquarters, Mr. Ramachandran is responsible for providing the overall technology leadership and strategic product road map that drives the company's innovation engine around digital smart grid solutions.

"We are very excited that Sri Ramachandran, who has a deep track record of bringing game-changing technologies to market, has decided to join the team. His leadership will be instrumental as Utilidata continues to scale up its operations globally," said Scott E. DePasquale, Chairman and CEO of Utilidata. "Sri has been recognized for his thought leadership and invention around IP communications and voice over IP networks (VoIP). He brings a unique perspective and skill set that will make a big difference in how we maintain our market leadership position through advanced technology and innovation."

Mr. Ramachandran is a technology veteran and most recently served as CTO of the Telcordia (News - Alert)/Ericsson Interconnection Solutions business in New Jersey. Under his leadership, Telcordia/Ericsson successfully established its Mobile Messaging business, forging multi-natioal partnerships and winning marquee customers.

Prior to Ericsson (News - Alert), Mr. Ramachandran was co-founder and CTO of Maryland-based NexTone Communications, where he scaled the business to become a market leader in Session Management, leading to an acquisition by Genband. He is recognized as an industry thought leader and holds six patents for his work developing the Session Border Controller (SBC), now an essential component of VoIP networks. He is regularly called upon to provide advice related to key mergers and acquisitions in the communications space. Mr. Ramachandran has also spanned technical and managerial tenures at GE Spacenet, Hughes (News - Alert) Network Systems and LCC, Inc.

"I'm excited to join the Utilidata team. The company's technology represents a step change in how we reduce energy waste at scale for power utilities without demanding change in consumer behavior or necessitating significant and costly changes to the electric power grid itself," said Mr. Ramachandran. "Utilidata is poised to make a great impact in the market by offering disruptive solutions that immensely benefit both utility ratepayers, as well as utility shareholders."

Mr. Ramachandran has a Master of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and received his Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, India.
