Active Broadband Networks to Demonstrate How Broadband Providers Can Deliver Third-Party Subsidized Services at CableLabs(R) Winter Conference

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) FRAMINGHAM, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/11/13 -- Active Broadband Networks, an innovative supplier of next-generation operation support systems (OSS) for broadband providers, today announced that it will be demonstrating how its Dynamic Broadband Service Manager (DBSM) can be used to deliver third-party subsidized services at the CableLabs® Winter Conference, a private, cable operator and participating vendor event taking place March 11-12, 2013 in Orlando, Florida. Active Broadband will demonstrate how the DBSM can be used to facilitate transactions between content providers and subscribers in which content providers are able to transact for broadband services on behalf of subscribers -- without violating Net Neutrality or other regulatory requirements.

Active Broadband's DBSM is a next-generation operations support system (OSS) that enables operators to measure, manage and monetize broadband usage. The DBSM allows third-party management of a subscriber's account, under the subscriber's control, by leveraging a combination of capabilities in the DOCSIS network and the DBSM platform. Operators are able to deliver data services that satisfy the requirements of third-party content providers and be compensated accordingly. Subscribers can be offered the choice of usage subsidized by the content provider instead of having their service managed under the standard terms of their high-speed Internet service.

"As residential broadband providers adopt usage-based service management techniques to manage the tremendous growth in subscriber demand, there is an opportunity for operators to introduce innovative ways for third-parties to subsidize the necessary capacity or throughout for bandwidth-intensive applications and services," said Adam Dunstan, CEO of Active Broadband Networks. "We have enhanced the capabilities of the DBSM to facilitate these new ways of monetizing broadband service delivery."
