Silicon Laboratories collaborates with SIGFOXMar 05, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Silicon Laboratories, Inc., a semiconductor company, has collaborated with SIGFOX, an operator of a cellular network fully dedicated to machine-to-machine and Internet of Things communications. The combination of Silicon Labs' EZRadioPRO wireless transceivers and SIGFOX's unique Ultra-Narrowband, or UNB, technology enables long-range wireless Internet connectivity solutions for a wide array of devices such as smart meters, patient monitors, security devices, street lights and environmental sensors, Silicon said. The SIGFOX Network provides a cost-effective solution for IoT and M2M services by employing a low-throughput RF communication technology that operates over an unlicensed wireless spectrum. "The collaboration between Silicon Labs and SIGFOX provides a solid wireless platform for M2M communication and cloud connectivity," said Diwakar Vishakhadatta, vice president and general manager of Silicon Labs' Embedded Systems business.
