NBN Co on track for satellite slotsMar 04, 2013 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- NBN Co must reach agreement with rival operators of commercial satellites on the slots to be taken up by its own assets. These will be launched by Arianespace of France, after the company rolling out the Australian Government's national broadband network has signed a contract with the provider. Satellites are needed by NBN Co to offer ultrafast internet access to those parts of regional and rural Australia were fibre optic cabling cannot be laid. One of the groups NBN Co must negotiate with is Kacomm. The UN's International Telecommunications Union regulates the allocating of satellite slots.
