FAIRFAX, Va., March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- General Dynamics Information Technology has been awarded a task order to provide information technology (IT) support services to the Department of Defense Dependents Schools-Europe (DoDDS-E), the overseas school system serving the education needs of military and civilian employee dependents by providing pre-kindergarten through grade twelve instruction to more than 30,000 students. The task order was awarded under the Information Technology Enterprise Solutions-2 Services (ITES-2S) contract and has a potential value of $18 million over three years if all options are exercised. General Dynamics Information Technology is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD).

Under this contract, General Dynamics will deliver IT support services to all DoDDS-E locations to meet the technology challenges of ever-changing educational needs of the dependents of military and civilian employees. The company will provide customer technology support, hardware and software support, desktop and laptop management, server and network support, and handheld device support.

"For more than 50 years, General Dynamics has provided the Department of Defense with IT support operations that improve customer satisfaction and service levels, and we are pleased to expand on that record of achievement to include the schools of DoDDS-E," said Tom Kirchmaier, senior vice president and general manager of General Dynamics Information Technology's Intelligence Solutions division. "We will apply this expertise to help DoDDS-E in their mission to provide exemplary educational programs that inspire and prepare all students for success in a global environment." The Department of Defense Education Activity provides a quality education for eligible family members of personnel on official assignments. DoDEA is responsible for the education of approximately 84,000 students in schools located in twelve foreign countries, seven U.S. states, Guam and Puerto Rico.
