Tactio's app provides health guidance and integrates data from physiological sensors to track weight loss, hypertension and fitness. Tactio has recognized the need to integrate a predictive weight management application with software and other sensors to provide a complete system for planning and monitoring obesity and weight management programs. Tactio's integration of the mathematical model into the "TactioHealth" mobile health software system results in a science-based program that may be able to guide patients through their weight loss journey. The collaboration between Tactio and the NIH was made possible through a formal Clinical Research Agreement to advance studies of overweight and obesity.
Every day, nearly 3,000,000 health-conscious people from around the
globe use Tactio's TactioHealth
home wellness system to track weight loss, hypertension, physical
activity and diabetes. A fast-growing number also use TactioReady eHealth
wellness devices (WiFi (News - Alert) scales, blood pressure & activity trackers
from manufacturers such as A&D Medical, BodyMedia, Fitbit,
iHealth, Wahoo Fitness, and "The mathematical model that we developed at NIH allows us to accurately predict changes in weight and metabolism over time. The model predicts how long weight loss will take and what changes in eating and exercise are required to achieve and maintain a goal body weight. Future applications for clinical use are now under development," said Kevin Hall, Ph.D., Senior Investigator, Laboratory of Biological Modeling, at the NIH's National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. "Mobile technology holds promise as an adaptable, easily transformed, mechanism to increase the effect of healthcare professional-directed weight loss treatment. As a physician, creating a collaboration with the NIH to implement a validated weight loss model into an app strengthens connectivity between doctors and patients. TactioHealth enables patients to track and control all health data with themselves and family and also share health reports with their physicians. Also this app can be applied in clinical settings to track all the important health indicators," notes Dr. Alfons Pomp, MD, FACS, FRCSC, Vice Chairman, Department of Surgery, Chief, Section of Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at the New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical College, a member of Tactio's Medical Advisory Board. "We are honored to collaborate with Dr. Kevin Hall at the NIH to bring our users a model to help them set their weight and activity targets and guide them along their weight loss journey with our TactioHealth tracking system. As a TactioHealth user myself, I can adjust my weight loss, weight gain or weight maintenance plan, see it live on my chart and benefit from being guided with clear boundaries from both my weight and physical activity perspective. Our users will love the new perspective provided by the guidance," said Michel Nadeau, P.Eng., President, CEO & Founder of Tactio Health Group.
