Webcomics Pioneer Chris Crosby Joins Red Giant Entertainment's Board of Directors

ORLANDO, FL, Mar 01, 2013 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Chris Crosby, co-founder and CEO of leading online comics portal Keenspot, has joined Red Giant Entertainment (OTCQB: REDG) as a Member of the Board of Directors.

As a strategic partner since 2010, Crosby has provided a valuable revenue stream to Red Giant by posting its comics online across Keenspot's network of 2.5 million unique visitors monthly, placing advertising on those comics from major brands including Disney, Time Warner Inc, Activision, Dell Computers, GameStop and McDonalds.

Keenspot also distributes Red Giant's titles to the major digital comics storefronts including comiXology and iVerse.

"I've known [Red Giant CEO] Benny Powell since the mid-1990s," said Crosby, "and when he laid out his vision for the company in full, I jumped at the chance to be a part of it. I was lucky enough to be involved in the dawn of online comics, and now at Red Giant we're about to embark on an entirely new direction." "Chris has always been an impressive creative talent and smart business person" said Powell. "I've been continually impressed by his accomplishments and it only made sense to pool our efforts. He has proven himself to be an indispensible member of the team." At the young age of 16, he was creating and publishing his own printed comic books professionally. In 1994, he became one of the first creators to step into the new world of online comics. As the internet emerged, Crosby moved his comics to a dedicated website. In 1997 he was commissioned by AnotherUniverse.com to create a weekly online comic, SNAP THE PUNK TURTLE, for their popular digital magazine. Inspired by the positive reaction he received from SNAP, in March 1999 Crosby launched one of the first daily online-exclusive comic strips, SUPEROSITY, which today celebrated its 14th anniversary with over 5,000 daily strips.

In March 2000, Crosby co-founded premier webcomics portal Keenspot and served as its CEO. He helped Keenspot grow its line-up of comics to more than fifty exclusive titles, ultimately generating more than 12 billion pageviews. Later that year, Keenspot launched ComicGenesis.com, an all-inclusive free webhosting site for aspiring comic creators that some have described as "YouTube for comics." Crosby continues in his role as CEO of Keenspot and ComicGenesis, and continues to grow both businesses as well as acting as a creative force behind massively popular properties as well.
