BRIEF: Parent firm of Madison-based TDS Telecom buys New Mexico cable firm


Feb 26, 2013 (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Telephone and Data Systems Inc., the parent of Madison-based TDS Telecom, has agreed to acquire the assets of a cable television firm in New Mexico for $267.5 million, company officials said Tuesday.



The firm is Baja Broadband LLC, with headquarters in Alamogordo, N.M., that has about 285 employees and had $82.4 million in revenue in 2012.

Baja provides cable television, broadband and telephone service in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Utah.


The acquisition is the biggest ever for Telephone and Data Systems, the Chicago-based company said.

The sale is expected to be completed this fall, pending regulatory approvals.
