Ericsson expands SSR 8000 family platform

Feb 25, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Ericsson, a provider of telecommunications equipment, data communication systems, and related services, has announced the addition of Ericsson Service-Aware Support Node, or SASN, and Ericsson Wi-Fi Gateway to its multi-application SSR 8000 family platform.

The Ericsson Service-Aware Support Node is a key component in the company's policy control solution Service-Aware Charging and Control. It can be used to categorize different types of traffic while optimizing the use of network resources.

The other application is the Ericsson Wi-Fi Gateway, which integrates Wi-Fi networks with mobile-broadband infrastructure. The Ericsson Wi-Fi Gateway will support the network-controlled, clientless solution for dynamic traffic steering between cellular and Wi-Fi.

Other mobile- and fixed-network applications launched by Ericsson on the SSR 8000 family platform include the Ericsson Evolved Packet Gateway, Broadband Network Gateway, L2/L3 Customer Edge and Provider Edge Router.
