VideoPropulsion Introduces CableCard FloodGate Solution for Hotel HDTV Delivery

Slinger, WI, Feb 22, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- VideoPropulsion(R) (OTC:VPTV) broadens the Company's industry leading FloodGate(R) family of HDTV head-ends for hotels by introducing support for CableCard(R) in its state-of-the-art FG-4000 appliances. Two models boast secure delivery of up to 24 or 48 HD CATV program channels over COAX, IP, or mobile networks. Tapping into low-cost multi-tuner CableCard devices from SiliconDust(R) enables the new FloodGate models FG-4110C and FG-4120C FloodGate appliances to deliver HD programming to hotels at the lowest cost per stream in the industry.

Many of the same features unique to FloodGate satellite systems can be found in the new CableCard models, including Stream Prioritization, Receiver/Tuner Failover, enhanced SNMP monitoring, online configuration editing, extended receiver/tuner information, and a 3-year limited warranty. VideoPropulsion's traditional FloodGate differentiators also include the ability to generate an Electronic Channel List (ECL) or Electronic Program Guide (EPG), playout of custom welcome channels, and SNMP status messaging with centralized FloodGate Dashboard for managing multiple remote systems simultaneously.

"We are very pleased indeed to announce the availability of CableCard support in our FloodGate 4000 Series Free-to-Guest appliances," affirms VideoPropulsion's Chairman & CEO Carl Pick. "This addition to our HD head-end products demonstrates our leadership in the North American hospitality industry as the preeminent HDTV Free-to-Guest supplier. Realization of support for CableCard shows our ongoing commitment to constantly increase the depth and breadth of functionality while lowering the costs per stream." The top-of-the-line "Cloudburst" FG-4120C is the family's flagship model and provides as many as 48 channels, along with EPG, 4 Private Channels, and full monitoring, management, and fault recovery facilities. The entry-level "Downpour" FG-4110C delivers up to 24 channels and is also full-featured.

Among the most valuable elements of the FloodGate products is the ability to both anticipate and recover from environmental problems. A system can diagnose and report issues from high room temperature to receiver/tuner failure, and, in the event of a receiver/tuner loss, fail over to a hot standby or re-task receiver/tuners of lower priority channels.

The EPG provides hospitality guests with a listing of the specific line-up available in their hotel room. Guests can view the schedule of current and future programming which allows them to quickly find shows and channels without surfing through the large lineup. This simple, but uncommon amenity offers guests the ability to conveniently plan viewing with ease. Where EPG is unavailable or undesirable, a simpler Electronic Channel List (ECL) can inform the guest where their favorite channels are located on the hotel TV system.

A private channel facility gives the hotelier a way to display custom welcome or information channels for their guests using their own prerecorded SD or HD content played in a continuous loop. Private channels can be used to advertise hotel amenities, local attractions, or other content that the venue may desire, on one or more channels on the guest room TV.

FloodGate FG-4000 series appliances began shipping in June of 2012. The new model FloodGates with support for CableCard ship beginning in February of 2013.
