PlayStation 4 specs announced - News [T-break Tech (Middle East)]

(T-break Tech (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Early this morning Sony finally lifted the curtains off their next generation console, the PlayStation 4, although we don't really see the hardware itself. As rumors suggested, the PS4 will be carrying a completely AMD based system inside.  According to IGN , the PlayStation 4 will use a custom 8-core AMD "Jaguar" x86-64 APU with integrated graphics, paired with a "next-generation" AMD Radeon graphics processor. The latter GPU is capable of delivering up to 1.84 teraflops, which puts it right around the performance of the current Radeon HD 7870 graphics card, or better yet, the HD 7970M due to it's lower TDP rating. While the HD 7800 series is a mid-range card, developers will have complete control over the hardware and can optimize games to the Nth degree for the PS4, something not remotely possible on PCs because of the myriad configurations they come in.  The whole system also gets 8GB GDDR5 of unified memory. The hard drive used is and unspecified large capacity unit, showing that Sony is more focused on more storage rather than high speeds afforded by solid state drives.  The PS4 also comes with a Blu-ray drive, the only console from Sony that carries a previous-generation optical media. The original PS came with a CD drive, PS2 came with DVD drive and the PS3 came with Blu-ray.   Additionally the PS4 comes with built-in 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI with analog AV, Optical out and a 'mysterious' AUX port. And no doubt thanks to the AMD APU, the PS4 will also come with USB 3.0 ports. And finally accompanying each console will be a mono headset so that you can use cross-game chat and other social media features out of the box.  For now Sony hasn't announced the price or the exact date, with Holiday 2013 mentioned as the shipping time p eriod.   COPYRIGHT 2013 TBREAK MEDIA.
