COM DEV equipment launched on NASA TDRS K satellite

CAMBRIDGE, ON, Feb. 14, 2013, 2013 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) -- COM DEV International Ltd. (TSX: CDV), a leading manufacturer of space hardware subsystems, today announced that NASA's TDRS K satellite was successfully launched on January 30 with COM DEV-built filters and switches on board.

The Boeing-built next-generation satellite provides NASA with crucial crosslink communications capability between Earth-orbiting spacecraft and control and data processing facilities on the ground. TDRS K is the first of three Tracking and Data Relay Satellites ("TDRS") planned to augment the earlier TDRS constellation that serves as NASA's means of continuous, high-data rate communication with the Hubble Space Telescope, the International Space Station and dozens of unmanned scientific satellites in low earth orbit.
