GlobalFit Joins with United Airlines to Create MileagePlus Fitness

PHILADELPHIA --(Business Wire)--

GlobalFit®, a leading provider of physical activity programs for businesses worldwide, has joined with United Airlines in the launch of MileagePlus Fitness (fitness.mileageplus.com). The program enables members of United's MileagePlus loyalty program to earn award miles and access GlobalFit's network of 10,000 gyms nationwide for the lowest membership fees available.

Members also earn bonus award miles for purchases made through MileagePlus Fitness, including gym memberships and a variety of home fitness products such as Zumba® DVDs, Total Gym® and bodybugg®. GlobalFit is the exclusive provider of MileagePlus Fitness.

"As MileagePlus further expands its list of preferred partners, we're pleased to offer our members the health-related products and services - specifically gym memberships - that they tell us they value," said, David Oppenheim, Managing Director at United. "We now provide our members with opportunities to earn miles and save money while they improve their health and well-being."

MileagePlus members can access all U.S. gyms and all membership types in GlobalFit's gym network. The network is comprised of a variety of national and regional chains as well as thousands of independent gyms. The network includes gyms in every state, every major market and most rural reas.

"Fitness brings its own rewards, but with GlobalFit's savings and award miles, MileagePlus members now have even greater incentive to get active in 2013 with a new gym membership," said Richard Penn, CEO of GlobalFit. "GlobalFit is honored to join with MileagePlus to encourage healthier, more active lifestyles. We're particularly thrilled to launch this year-round program at a time when so many are focused on New Year's fitness resolutions."

MileagePlus members will earn 2,000 bonus miles with the purchase of a gym membership, regardless of which gym or membership type they choose. Members may earn as many as 1,250 miles with the purchase of Nutrisystem®, Total Gym, Zumba DVDs, and other home fitness products and nutrition programs.

MileagePlus is United's award-winning loyalty program. Members earn award miles by flying United, United Express, Star Alliance member airlines or other airline partners, and by purchasing products or services from a wide variety of partners worldwide. They then may use miles for travel, hotel stays and car rentals, in addition to everyday purchases and activities. According to the 3rd annual Switchfly Reward Seat Availability Survey presented by IdeaWorksCompany, United MileagePlus has the most award seat availability among U.S. global carriers. Last year, United launched MileagePlus Headliners, a unique program enabling members to use their miles to bid on a variety of experiences, including theater and sporting event tickets, and once-in-a-lifetime trips. MileagePlus has been voted the Best Frequent Flyer Program nine years in a row by the readers of Global Traveler magazine.
