Linda man facing murder charge in drive-by shootingFeb 08, 2013 (Appeal-Democrat - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Investigators arrested a Linda man in connection with a drive-by shooting that left one person dead and three hospitalized. Kong Meng Vue, 25, was arrested by Yuba County sheriff's deputies and Yuba Sutter Gang Task Force members in the 5700 block of Park Avenue in Linda. Vue was stopped without incident in a vehicle at about 11 a.m. Wednesday, as he was leaving the home of his brother, Tong, authorities said. He was booked into the Yuba County Jail on suspicion of murder, three counts of attempted murder, criminal street gang participation and shooting at an inhabited dwelling. He was held without bail. "We were pleased to have an arrest so early in this investigation," Yuba County Undersheriff Jerry Read said. The Sheriff's Department said the investigation is ongoing. Following Kong Vue's arrest, investigators obtained a search warrant for his brother's house and found several long guns and one handgun. The Sheriff's Department did not know if any of the weapons were used in Sunday's shooting, according to a press release. It remains unclear if Tong Vue was involved. He was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition and was booked into the Yuba County Jail. He was not listed on Thursday as an inmate, according to the jail's website. Kong Vue's arrest was the first in an investigation into the drive-by shooting during a Super Bowl party at about 10 p.m. in Linda. Teng Yang, 20, was killed. Yang's brother Tou, 24, his sister Xong, 19, and family friend Yang Vue, 27, were injured. Read said he doesn't believe there was a connection between Yang Vue and the two brothers who were arrested. Xong Yang was listed Thursday in good condition at UC Davis Medical Center, Yang Vue was released from Rideout Memorial Hospital. Tou is also in good condition, said Lee Yang, Teng's oldest brother. The family was happy the Sheriff's Department made an arrest so quickly, Lee Yang said. "We're glad," he said. "It sounds like (investigators) are doing the right thing.
