(Western Mail (Wales) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Paid to have beer on the brain HEARD the one about the student with beer on the brain Now, following a new marketing ploy, this could soon become reality, with one agency offering to pay students to display company logos on their foreheads.
Cunning Stunts, the creative marketing agency best known for projecting a naked image of TV presenter Gail Porter on to the Houses of Parliament, are asking cash-strapped students to wear a temporary tattoo on their heads for a week in return for nearly Pounds 90.
The only condition is they have to go out in public displaying the logo for a minimum of three hours a day. Thus the company is hoping to exploit the stereotypical image of undergraduates needing to earn money, but wanting to exert the minimum amount of effort.
John Carver, director of Cunning Stunts, said: "As part of our day-to-day work we set aside time to think up unusual, quirky and witty ideas. This one gives any participating brand a unique advertising medium as well as giving something back to students."
Firms already signed up include lads' mag FHM and cable TV youth channel CNX.
Stewart Dobson, group marketing manager for Cardiff brewery SA Brain and Co, said: "A pint of Brain's has been synonymous with student life in Cardiff for decades, although I don't know whether it was students who nicknamed SA 'skull attack.
"It would make it particularly appropriate to be advertised on people's heads though."
Dave Mercatali, pictured, a 21-year-old student at Cardiff University, said he would consider renting out his forehead space for extra cash.
"That sounds like a cool idea," he said.
