MTK, Spreadtrum the Biggest Winners of China Mobile Bidding


Feb 05, 2013 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- MediaTek Inc. (MTK) and Spreadtrum Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPRD) have become the biggest winners in the 2012 Q4 TD mobile phone bidding launched by China Mobile Ltd. (NYSE: CHL, SEHK: 0941).



It is said that China Mobile has disclosed the results of the 2012 Q4 TD mobile phone bidding.

Though China Mobile has not affirmed the news, an upstream component dealer said it was true that nine mobile phone models on the shortlist of the bidding will adopt chips of MediaTek and Spreadtrum Communications. The nine mobile phone models are developed by Hisense Group, ZTE Corporation (SZSE: 000063, SEHK: 0763), Beijing Tianyu Communication Equipment Co. Ltd. (K-Touch developer), Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Konka Group Co., Ltd. (SZSE: 000016) and Lenovo Group Limited (SEHK: 0992).


It is said that the TD mobile phones mentioned before will be shipped from the middle of March 2013. Of those mobile phones, ZTE U795+, K-Touch U81t, Konka V985, Hisense HS-T958 and Lenovo A 820t will adopt chips of MediaTek, and Hisense H S-T818, ZTE U793, Huawei Y 310-T10 and K-Touch C986t will adopt solutions of Spreadtrum Communications.
