BRIEF: Barry Sanders: A gay NFL player should expect teasingFeb 01, 2013 (Detroit Free Press - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- No sooner did Detroit Lions great Barry Sanders touch down in New Orleans for pre-Super Bowl XLVII festivities than TMZ was asking him what he thinks about gay players in the NFL, in light of San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver's inflammatory comments earlier this week. Sanders was mostly political in his answer, as usual. But he did say that there would be some teasing to endure for a gay player. "In the locker room, you get teased for anything," Sanders said. "If somebody comes out, they're going to get teased. But they've got to have thick skin and go on about their life."
