Downgrade Alert for Hologic (HOLX)

Feb 01, 2013 (SmarTrend(R) Upgrades/Downgrades via COMTEX) -- Hologic (NASDAQ:HOLX) was downgraded from Neutral to Reduce at SunTrust today. The stock closed yesterday at $23.84 on volume of 2.0 million shares, below average daily volume of 2.3 million. Hologic, Inc. develops, manufactures, and markets x-ray systems. The Company makes x-ray bone densitometers that measure the precise bone density for use in the diagnosing of metabolic bone diseases such as osteoporosis.

In the past 52 weeks, Hologic share prices have been bracketed by a low of $13.90 and a high of $23.96 and closed yesterday at $23.84, 72% above that low price. In the last five trading sessions, the 50-day moving average (MA) has climbed 1.5% while the 200-day MA has risen 0.3%.

Potential upside of 3.6% exists for Hologic, based on a current level of $23.84 and analysts' average consensus price target of $24.69. The stock should discover initial support at its 50-day moving average (MA) of $20.85 and subsequent support at its 200-day MA of $19.64.
