MediaTek 4-core Smartphone Chip Enters Indian Market

Jan 31, 2013 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Cellphone chip manufacturer MediaTek Inc. has successfully put its four-core smartphone chip into Indian market.

The chip has been adopted by Micromax, the third largest mobile phone manufacturer in India.

Launching its first four-core smartphone single crystal chip platform MT6589 on December 11, 2012, MediaTek has received a lot of orders by far.

MediaTek said that MT6589 has been applied by Micromax to the latter's latest smartphone model A116CanvasHD.

A116CanvasHD, which is reckoned to be launched in early February in India, has a five-inch touch screen and is installed with Android4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and a 8 million-pixel camera.

Acer Inc. also said that it will adopt MediaTek's four-core processor to its eight- and ten-inch tablet computers to be launched in the third quarter of 2013.
