AOR Technology Announces Portal Solution for Federally-Required Communication of Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) to Employees

Austin, TX, Jan 31, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- As of the end of 2012, health insurance issuers and group health plans are required to provide employees with an easy-to-understand summary about a health plan's benefits and coverage - an SBC. An SBC is a document detailing, in plain language, simple and consistent information about health plan benefits and coverage. It summarizes the key features of the plan or coverage, such as the covered benefits, cost-sharing provisions, and coverage limitations and exceptions.

The federal law requires that an SBC posted online meet the following requirements: 1. The format is readily accessible (such as a PDF document) 2. The SBC is provided in paper form free of charge upon request 3. The provider timely advises that the SBC is available online and gives the internet address (providers may make this disclosure by email).
