Samsung to Boost Investment in East China

Jan 28, 2013 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Samsung from South Korea days ago inked agreement with local government in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, east China, injecting additional investment of USD 1.7 billion into Samsung Electro-Mechanics (Kunshan) within five years from 2013, which will be used for establishing R&D institutions, building workshops and purchasing equipment.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics settled down in Kunshan City in 2008 and had lured investment surpassing USD 80 million by the end of 2012. In recent years, demand for core components like chip carriers of IT products has been robust, with the popularization of smart phones and tablet computers. Hence, Samsung decided to increase investment in Kunshan City to more than triple local production capacity.
