ST. LOUIS --(Business Wire)--

Belden Inc. (NYSE:BDC), a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, will be demonstrating its substation-hardened industrial Ethernet solutions for both power utilities and the substation automation manufacturers who support them at DistribuTECH 2013 in San Diego January 29-31. Among the features at the Belden booth (#3427) will be sample configurations of substation communications solutions using MPLS, cellular and Ethernet WAN solutions and demonstration of a new advanced router from Belden's GarrettCom (News - Alert) brand of substation-hardened communications products. With products in 75 percent of the top 100 power utilities in North America, Belden has a powerful platform on which to expand in 2013. Substations are at the heart of the smart grid data collection and management activity. The company's GarrettCom and Hirschmann brands, along with its wire and cable group, provide substation-strength connectivity solutions that extend from the edge of the substation network to the control room and through the firewall to corporate IT. Belden's connectivity solutions support NERC (News - Alert) requirements for cyber and physical security. As te only vendor-agnostic OEM supplier of hardened end-to-end connectivity solutions to substation automation companies, Belden is solidifying relationships with key accounts including ABB and Schneider Electric (News - Alert).

Solutions on display will emphasize Belden's ability to assist in migrating power utility customers, at the pace they desire, from legacy to fully-Ethernet configured communications systems that conform to IEC (News - Alert) 61850. Belden's solutions are known for their modularity and flexibility, making them the systems of choice for power utilities that need to plan the evolution of equipment intended to be amortized over 30 years or more.

Solutions will be configured from a variety of products. On display will be GarrettCom's Magnum 10-series line of substation-hardened products and DX line of routers and terminal servers. Hirschmann products to be featured include Industrial Hi-Vision GUI-based network management software, the Eagle line of secure firewall products, BAT wireless access points and MIPP patch panels.
