Shootout during Brink's truck delivery in Sunrise

SUNRISE, Jan 17, 2013 (Sun Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Authorities are searching for two male armed robbery suspects, one of whom may be wounded, after a shootout during a Brink's truck delivery to a Space Coast Credit Union branch in Sunrise Thursday morning.

None of the credit union employees at 7751 W. Oakland Park Blvd. east of N. University Drive were injured during the 10 a.m. incident, Sunrise Police Sergeant Rodney Hailey said.

Compelling video shows a man the FBI said was an armoured truck guard being forced to the ground by two men.

The men demanded cash, tried to get the guard's weapon and took his bag, FBI Special Agent Michael Leverock said.

While still lying prone, the guard can be seen pointing a weapon toward the men as they flee.

"One of the suspects may have been hit, and that's where we need the public's help," Leverock said.

The guard was unharmed, officials said.

Two suspects are believed to have driven a getaway car to a nearby parking lot on N. University Drive, Hailey said.

In front of a HoneyBaked Ham store in the Sunrise Town Center shopping plaza, investigators were examining a white, older model 4-door Honda sedan that the FBI said had been stolen.

It had two flat tires and at least eight bullet holes on the driver's side and lower rear windshield on the passenger side.

A second car -- a silver, 4-door Lexus sedan, from 2000 or 2001 that has a rear spoiler and a small dent on the trunk near the keyhole -- may be what picked up the robbers, Leverock said.

Until Jan. 27, Brink's is offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

The FBI asks anyone with information to call 305-944-9101; Sunrise Police at 954-746-3600 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
