RF Technologies® Releases Version 8 Software with Smart ID(TM) Location Detection Upgrade

BROOKFIELD, Wis., Jan. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- RF Technologies®, a leading provider of radio frequency identification (RFID) healthcare safety and security solutions, has upgraded its Smart ID Location Detection technology as part of its Version 8 software release to provide accurate room- or area-level locationing when senior living residents summon help from a wireless pendant.

Smart ID Location Detection is a feature of the Code Alert® Quick Response® Plus Wireless Call Solution. When a resident pushes a pendant button, wall-mounted repeaters collect the pendant's signal. The resident's name and location are then promptly transmitted to the caregiver for a faster response.

"Smart ID is a valuable aid in resident care. With our enhancements to location detection, residents can have confidence and added peace of mind that, when they need it, help is on the way," said Sean Daugherty, senior vice president and general manager for solutions development and sales. "The flexibility of Smart ID enables a community to choose which solution best accommodates staff, residents and workflow." Accurate room-level detection enables caregivers to respond promptly, giving residents greater sense of security. During installation, coverage areas are "mapped" with survey points so when a pendant is activated, its location can be calculated based on comparison to the mapped points.

Area-level detection is a cost-effective solution for communities that require locationing narrowed down to common areas or living areas. Community mapping isn't required, making installation simple and efficient.

Through Code Alert software, control stations display the resident's location during an emergency event. Remote caregivers can also receive alerts from a variety of optional devices, including pagers, wireless phones that show emails and text messages, and Quick Look(TM) LED displays.

Quick Response Plus enables residents to call for assistance from anywhere in a community, inside or outside, using pendants and a variety of stationary call devices such as pull cords and call buttons. Mobile pendants are water-resistant for added safety in the shower, and can be worn on a breakaway necklace or on a belt clip. Devices can be added as needed when communities expand or are remodeled, resulting in a scalable and flexible investment.

Additional features include integration with the Code Alert Wandering Management Solution, easy-to-use software and a touch-screen monitor, alarm escalation, and reporting capabilities. The call solution uses the reliability and scalability of the Inovonics EchoStream® product line.
